Maple Ridge Elementary School PTO

A Goal The Whole School Got Behind
Maple Ridge Elementary PTO wanted to make recess and outdoor learning more comfortable for students. Their goal was to fund new playground shade structures, outdoor benches, and supplies teachers could use for reading circles, science lessons, and class activities outside.
How They Kept the Fundraiser Moving
The PTO kicked off the fundraiser with a schoolwide assembly and classroom goal charts so students could see how every sale helped. Families shared chocolate with neighbors, relatives, and coworkers, while teachers celebrated weekly milestones and standout sellers. In just three weeks, Maple Ridge exceeded its goal and brought the whole community into the effort.
“World’s Finest Chocolate made it easy for our families to get involved,” said Lewis. “People recognized the brand, students were excited to sell it, and every bar helped us get closer to creating a better outdoor space for our school.”
Chocolate Made Participation Simple
Because families already knew and loved World’s Finest Chocolate, students felt confident sharing the fundraiser with people in their community. The PTO made participation simple by giving families clear goals, easy selling reminders, and regular updates that showed how each box sold brought Maple Ridge closer to a cooler, more comfortable playground.
Students were encouraged to talk about the “why” behind the fundraiser, not just the chocolate. That helped neighbors, relatives, and local supporters understand that every purchase was helping create a better outdoor space for recess, classroom activities, and school events. With a familiar product and a meaningful goal, the fundraiser felt easy to support and exciting to be part of.

A Sweet Win For Maple Ridge Students
By the end of the school year, the new shade structures and benches were ready for students to enjoy. What started as a simple chocolate fundraiser became a lasting improvement for recess, outdoor lessons, and the entire Maple Ridge community.
